Figurative Art
Since the dawn of civilisation when man first drew an image on the wall of a prehistoric cave, recreating images seen in real life has been a form of artistic expression popularly known as figurative art. The basis of representational or figurative art is a realistic recreation of a person or thing by an artist expressing their view. The ability to portray an imaginative, alternate reality can be a figurative painter’s greatest asset—the art form allows artists to revel in the peculiar and uncanny as they render life askew.
